The manatee of the Schleich® WILD LIFE themed world is a mammal that lives in tropical waters and eats seagrass, algae and other aquatic plants. The manatee is not a close relative of the cow, but of the elephant. The forelimbs have evolved into fins over millions of years. The hind legs are completely gone. In manatees, the tail has become a spade-shaped paddle. The tail of the dugongs has grown into a fork-shaped paddle.
